Self Destruction is a Choice

Self-Destruction Is A Choice by Mychal Massie

America is in a downward spiral, plummeting toward destruction – not because of depleted ozone, global warming, over population, mineral-resource depletion or any other silly pluripotent argument that is wheeled out daily. We are self destructing because of our choices. And while there was a time our choices appeared to be slowing down the inevitable, it now appears that all that is possible is being done to hasten same.

America is collapsing because, as a people, we have chosen to embrace lies over the truth. We have cursed that which is good and applauded that which is patently false. Evidence the applause and fanfare surrounding the anticipated release of "The Da Vinci Code." The book itself has been called "pure genius" and a "masterpiece that should be mandatory reading." It has been called "a delightful display of erudition" and "a mystery that challenges our intelligence."

Yet, the "Passion of the Christ" – a movie based entirely on historical fact, a movie based on the principle tenet of Christendom for over 2000 years, a movie about our Lord – is called "good for a laugh." Christians who embraced that movie were called "absurd." Dan Brown, author of the "Code," is as spiritually fatuous as his book is heretical, yet he is called brilliant and insightful, while Mel Gibson, creator and producer of "The Passion" was called "callous." The mainstream press, and many public figures, bemoaned the historical accuracy of the film as bad.

This is but one example of cursing the "Truth" while embracing a lie. It may seem redundant to point out the obvious, but when elementary school children are told it is good to learn about homosexuality – but not allowed to wear a tee-shirt with a Bible verse on it – I submit the end is near. When children learn about condoms and sexual practices – but are denied the right to give cards celebrating the birth of Christ or even drawing biblical pictures in art class – we as a nation stand on the precipice of destruction.

America is collapsing because we have become a culture that celebrates death. Abortion-on-demand and the removal of life-sustaining support from those who might or would in time recover – and who have expressed a desire to live – is barbarous. Encouraging people to seek euthanasia when perhaps they should seek counseling is not the sign of a righteous nation.
We are in a state of decline because the threats and peril our Founding Fathers faced – in order to establish a more perfect union, one that would not fall prey to the destructive policies they had witnessed others succumb to – are now embraced by those we elect and those who instruct our children.

We are collapsing under chaos and anarchy. Criminal codes and statutes are being willfully ignored by lawbreakers, and eagerly, albeit deceitfully, changed by the self-serving who are interested only in self-preservation.

Judges and the courts have forgotten their role. They routinely undermine the work of law enforcement. They aide and abet pedophiles and serial rapists by giving them less severe sentences than can be expected for mistreating animals. Instead of enforcing our laws and the Constitution, those we elect find ways to circumvent and subvert same for their personal gain. They support anarchy by assisting those sworn to destroy our way of life. Laws that have been established to protect society as a whole are disregarded so as to aid criminals. Witness the protests of illegal aliens and the support they enjoy from the White House down.

As I have previously stated, my understanding of eschatology provides me with assurance – but it does not provide me with the option – to seek out a comfortable spot on the hillside from which to furtively watch for the judgment of those below.

We have a duty to the present and whatever future remains. And that duty will not be accomplished by what amounts to a pagan worship of the Earth. It will be accomplished by reminding people of that which our forefathers held dear – the "Truth" that this great nation was founded upon.

This cannot be done by changing parties nor as it stands at present, by simply replacing one elected person with another. We must first reclaim our historical traditions, i.e., "Godly" worship, Godly families, and Godly educational institutions – many of which, lest we forget, were founded as church schools.

We must focus on raising up an army to take back our nation, even as those intent upon destroying it have sent forth their minions to accomplish the same. As one old-timer used to say: "We don't need to know how much time is left – we need to use whatever is left wisely."

Marriage is GREAT!!

As I am preparing to wrap up my final days in my academic program for a Master's Degree in Public Policy I would like to reflect on a past discussion in my Values and Ethics Class. I know originally I thought that I would merely keep this on music business, but as a scholar in public policy and politics I would like to address this issue.

In my values and ethics class my professor had us discuss whether or not the government should be in the business of encouraging marriage.

At the incredibily liberal university of michigan at Ann Arbor diversity of thought is hard to find. Most people there are promiscous, socialist loving, america hating individuals OR people who condone that type of behavior by staying silent. There are no email forums or real life forums to really openly debate these issues because in class it is clear that if you do not agree with the liberal masses you ought not say or email a word about it.

Many studies have shown that men who marry live long, have more fulfilling sex lives, and enjoy much career success. Many studies show that women aren't stiffled by marriage, but grow into admirable women who are completely happy with their lives.

In spite of these facts, the class basically became an hour and a half of single people moaning and growning about all the negatives sorounding marriage. I found it troubling that my Professor did not defend marriage, so I will.

During the course of the discussion there was even a heterophobe (a term that I have coined to describe a gay person who dispises the existence of those who would even dare or beheterosexual relationship) disin' marriage too. It was also hard for any of the married folk in the class to speak due to the class discussion being completely monopolized by the heterophobe and others who disparaged marriage.

So what is good about marriage? Wow, my list is long:

1. Friendship, companionship for the wife and husband

2. Stability (economically & emotionally)

3. Building a life together (feeling of achievement)

4. The adventure of balancing career, family, and other extra ciriculars

5. Sons learn how to treat thier future wife, and daughters learn how to treat their future husband.

6. Daughters and Sons learn what a healthy relationship is supposed to be like.

7. Consistently better and better intimate time.

6. Us vs. World nurtures a bond

7. Secrets that both will take to the grave that no one else will never know

8. Unconditional love

9. Trust

10. Improved health

11. Learning to survive in this life together

Many people think that marriage should not be encouraged by the government because the government should not tell people to get married if they are not ready or incompatible. I would argue that the government should encourage marriage. Why? Because it improves health, it brings about a level of maturity that is hard to gain otherwise, and you never have to wonder who you are going to spend your Friday or Saturday night with. .Marriage is wonderful for the reasons that I mentioned before, but marriage is also a sacred institution created by God. Life is often hard to deal with on your own, and when you face life as a team you might stumble and fall, but you will never be down for the count.

Being married has taught me the value of friendship, responsibility, sharing, caring, stability, and love.

Marriage is a huge commitment that I have found to be incredibly beneficial for my health and my character. How many of us can say that we have a friend that knows us like a book from front to back cover and all the pages inbetween, and still loves us? The only other being that I can think of is God, who love is eternal for those who love and know him. That is one of the reasons why Believers are described in the bible as the bride of Christ. Believers are the ones that will complete God's heavenly creation.

Marriage is like putting your character before a manifying mirror. Your partner sees everything: the good and bad. However there is one catch: he or she has promised before God to be true and be for you no matter what.

That commitment is a miracle and beautiful to behold. I know when I think of the many years that I have been married I know that it is God keeping us together along with our hard work.

Being married is also being able to say you're sorry and grow.

I know some who read this might think that the high divorce rate is an indication that marriage does not work. I disagree. When it comes down to infidelity, poor communication, lack of financial restraint, irresponsibility, and a marriage that is intimately handicapped, there is a common thread for these popular marriage dealbreakers. Simply put they are indicative of the extent to which **selfishness** ends marriages.

To be married means being able to be a creative problem solver where you are able to avoid situations and circumstances that would cause any of the aforementioned things to happen to you. My husband and I are constantly dealing with the curve balls of life. We do so together. Compromise is when you choose to do what makes the other happy because you just want them to be happy. Compromise can also be when a solution is found that makes everyone happy.

More to come on the subject of Marriage....Why? Because our culture is attacking it everyday, and someone needs to "Speakonit!"

www.familylife.com is a great resource for those who are married or thinking about being married. My husband and I have found it to be an invaluable resource.

Illegal Immigration & Racism

I just finished a course on immigration at the Ford School of Public Policy.
It was extremely informative and I learned a lot.
I learned that those who just want United States law to be respected by
non US citizens with respect to our borders are racists.

I learned that those calling "racist!" those who want the laws followed are manipulative.

As a black American I know that our society still has some racist components, but my gosh we are making progress as a country, any time you have an African American woman such as myself who can go to an elite college like MIT and University of Michigan Ann Arbor and succeed there progress has been made. Any time you have folks like Johnny clear (www.xkkk.org)
who are making friends with blacks, rejected his racist past, and is dedicated to positive change we are closer to MLK's dream than ever.

I am TIRED of cries of "racist!" being like cryptonite for white Americans. Enough is enough.

I LOVE WHITE PEOPLE. As an African American who descended from slaves
I KNOW racism intimately. As a black violinist who learned from white teachers in white orchestras I know how you can be slighted. But guess what?

Black people have treated me like DIRT TOO! In fact I was robbed by gun point by
FOUR BLACK MEN. All human beings are capable of good and evil.
The race argument is just plain old. Let's retire it.

The bottom line is that we all decend from the same people: Adam and Eve and Noah and
his family. We are all GOD's Creation.

I want to encourage white people everywhere to stand up against lawbreakers who just happen to be Mexicans and latinos who fundamentally disrespect the rule of law.

How many Americans would want to be in a Mexican jail? I know not me. Growing up
in Southern California I have heard my share of corruption stories about Mexico.
Los Angeles already has a questionable police force. Do we want to compound the issue
by letting these advocates of whole sale law breaking win the debate on illegal immigration?

I SAY NO! I say that we build a wall. I say that we stand on our principles.
I say that we stand up for our way of life. I say that we stand up for the progress that
we have made and do not abdicate our country to those who would want to
oppress us with their corrupt culture.

In my immigration class this term we read an ethnographic research piece by a sociologist
who was interested to see how regionalism effects immigrants and labor unions.
This social scientist observed the remarkable amount of discrimination by Mexicans to each other because of their city of origin. If Mexicans in South City, California labor unions discriminate against each other what are we in for? We are in for corrupt leadership,
lowered standard of living, and the further decline of opportunities for Americans.

Mexico's leadership and elected officials need to recognize that their economic situation is
not the American white man's burden. It is theirs. These activists and misled students in Los Angeles County need to study hard and better themselves, not spend their time guilt tripping
and trying to manipulate whites. They are no better than the whites who sought to
manipulate in the past. However there is one difference. The average white American
has made a change. They have made progress. I know, I am married to one.

Afghan Courts Dismiss Case against Christian

On Sunday March 26, 2006 I was happy to find out that the Afghan court finally dismissed the case against the man who converted from Islam to Christianity. I am very happy to hear that the court did the right thing and respected this man'sunalienable right to choose whom and what he believes. God bless Afghanistan and I pray that the governmentchanges its laws to fully respect itscitizens' rights to choose or change their religious affiliation. I know I will make it a point to encourage our federal legislators to urge Afghan legislators to create Afghan laws that legalize freedom of religion. It is important that Afghan citizens can freely choose their religion.

Stop the Genocide! The Case for Intervention in Darfur, Sudan

In 2001, when 3,000 people died in the Twin Towers, the world was horrified. In fact, President Bush sent troops to Afghanistan shortly after the fall of the Twin Towers. In 1994 it is estimated that 937,000 Rwandans died in racially motivated genocide. The UN was unable to prevent this Rwandan genocide once it began, and again the world was horrified.

As of 2004, the World Health Organization & Amnesty International estimate that 50,000 Sudanese have died from starvation as they fled threat of genocide by Sudanese government’s Janjaweed. This is like 17 9/11’s occurring back to back. In 2006, Brandon Guichard reports the number of homicides committed by the Janjaweed has risen to 400,000. In 2006 the UN Security Council unanimously passed an American motion to send more troops to the Sudan. The U.S. must support its own approved motion to send troops to stop the genocide.

In the Sudan the Janjaweed militia is killing black Christians while also mutilating, raping, and burning their villages to the ground. The UN Convention on Genocide describes it as causing serious bodily harm and deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about a people group’s demise. The CIA Factbook documents this racial conflict in Southern Sudan as a white Arab government militia systematically targeting black Christians. The violence has caused many to die and be displaced.

To grasp the scale of this displacement, one can compare it to Hurricane Katrina. According to a September 2005 story on CNN.com Hurricane Katrina displaced 78,000 people. According to www.darfurgenocide.org 1.8 million people have been displaced from their homes and 200,000 have fled to neighboring Chad. This is like 23 Hurricane Katrinas in less than 3 years!
In 2004, the United Nations called the conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan the worst humanitarian crisis, but stopped short of calling it genocide. The UN sent in its peacekeeping forces, largely made up of troops from various African countries, which have not stopped the genocide. During this same time US Secretary of State Colin Powell did call the Sudan violence genocide. The reluctance of the UN to admit that this violence is genocide shows a lack of principled leadership. It is important for the U.S. lead by example and fully support its approved 2006 UN Security Council motion tosend troops to stop this genocide.

Our government should act knowing that many support their efforts to end the Sudan genocide. Televangelist and Midwest preacher Rod Parsley is an American who led his mega church and others across the U.S. to send supplies to Sudan as early as 2002. In 2004, then US Secretary of State Colin Powell recognized the need and called the Sudan situation as genocide. Amnesty International, the Congressional Black Caucus, www.darfurgenocide.org, and grassroots activists all realize that action has to be taken. Simply put, the U.S. has to put strong action behind its approved February 2006 UN Security Council Motion. Media outlets such as the BBC and the New York Times have published many articles depicting the violence. Individuals can only do so much to fight a military threat; that is why America and its allies must send troops Darfur to protect the villages from the Janjaweed to prevent further harm.

The U.S. has national and international support to intervene. The U.S. also has an existing obligation to support its motion passed by the UN Security Council to send more troops to the Sudan. We must all continue to urge our government to keep its word and send troops to stop the Sudan genocide.
